Mechatronics and Robotics design

Mechatronic and robotic systems are a combination of mechanical, electrical, control and computer systems. See also the figure on the right. Designing such a system requires a delicate balancing of the combination of all four systems in order for the total system to function as optimal as possible. 

In order to create this optimal system several formal methods are used in the design process, such as modeling and simulation, systems engineering and systems architecting. In this way the complexity can be managed and a balanced mechatronic or robotic system is created. 

Mechatronic systems can be found in all sorts of domains. Examples are given in the black ring of the figure. Vextronics B.V. specialized itself in the high tech semiconductor industry and agricultural machinery domain.
